Austin Nevada

Museum

The first museum was opened on Gridley Days 2001 and was housed in the old Gridley Store at 247 Water Street, Austin, Nevada. It was operational at that site until June of 2006 when the new site at 180 Main Street was opened on Gridley Days, June 17, 2006.

This building was purchased with CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) funds obtained by the Lander County Board of Commissioner for this purpose. Assistance and support for development of all the Austin museum projects was given by the State Historical Preservation office and sustaining operations is assisted by the Lander County Board of Commissioners and the Lander County Convention and Tourism Authority.
